BAKER COUNTY - St Mary's Shoals Park
County see's the park as part of its overall effort to:
- Promote Economic Development - aplace where people want to live
- Some use components for St Mary's Shoals include ATV Trail/Park and Cedar Creek Preservation trail
Raise awareness in and of County as a Nature Conservation maintain the rural nature of the county.
The Baker County presenter sat at my table for part of the day. She was interested in the Green priority modelling process the Nature conservancy used in Putnam County
CLAY COUNTY
Protect/preserve Black Creek which I beleive is a Class I waterway. Acquire land along creek
Establish a major N/S trail segment connecting public lands south of the Camp to the State & National parks/forestland North of the Camp. By chance during a mtg with Jon Croci Environmental Officer for Camp Blanding he brought up the trail possiblity during our discusion regarding wetlands mitgation Bank at the Camp.
FLAGLER COUNTY
Population has increaded from 10,000 - 93,000 since 1980 census Need to aquire land and develop parks before lost to development
Referenced a UF Greenway Master Plan Study - We may to consider picking up a copy
Have trail system at north end ocean - Intracoastal plan to continue and extend.
Residents have consistantly supported funding. A third referandum to increase/continue (?) what was authorized last time is in process
ST JOHNS
Historically have acquired land then seek funding to develop getting tougher to get $$$
County Board studying $.01 sales tax for acquistion & development
Use Mitigation Money
Develop the Turnbull/Six Mile Creek Mitigation Area
NASSAU COUNTY
Last Rural County in North FL - Referenced a Nature Conservacny Cooridor Study ( I'm not sure if this is complete, underway, or planned). Is this Trust for Public Lands process opportunity (Putnam County like)
